Lateral Flow Testing Update - 17/03/21

We have now completed our mass testing for learners across the college site.

The Lateral Flow Testing Centre will remain open for learners who wish to continue testing at college, or for those who still need to complete their three tests on-site. Additionally, any learners who wish to continue taking part in the testing process can still do so.

Please remember this is voluntary and will not affect you from attending college.

There will be three test centres in operation, which will be based in the Horncastle Building at Queens Gardens, Preston Road and Goole.

To ensure safety measures are adhered to and the waiting time is not too long, we will only be accepting learners who have booked a Lateral Flow Test in advance. Please do not attend or turn up if you have not booked a test online. If you would like support in booking a test, please speak to your tutor.

To book to use the Horncastle Test Centre please use the online booking system, please click on the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hull-college-covid-testing-tickets-146605431793

For those learners who have undergone three tests on-site at college and are now taking their tests at home, COVID-19 home testing kits are available to collect from the Horncastle Building and Preston Road.

Please remember, even if you receive a negative test result you will need to continue to adhere to all safety measures on the college site.

If you require any further information or have any questions about Lateral Flow Testing, please email lfdtesting@hull-college.ac.uk.

Vice Principal Update - 06/01/21

Dear Student

I hope you are well and adapting, as you have before, to remote learning. Please be assured that you will continue to receive the education and support you need to make good progress with your studies. This communication is to provide you with clarity on what will happen and the services you can access during this period of national lockdown.

During the national lockdown, until 15th February 2021, the College will be closed to students. However, the College will be operating an onsite learning and support service for students classified as ‘vulnerable’. If you are a vulnerable student, you will be contacted by your teacher or support worker who will discuss your preferences regarding remote or college based learning.

There will be additional support provided to all students during the lockdown period should you require it. Please speak to your teacher who will be able to arrange this for you.

January exams

Examinations and any other scheduled assessments that were due to take place on site in January 2021 are now cancelled. The safety of our students is paramount and we will work with the awarding bodies to reschedule these when it is safe to do so. If you have any specific queries or concerns, please contact your teacher. It is important to keep refreshing the learning and revision you have done to prepare for your exams so you are ready for this when it is rescheduled or for any alternative form of assessment.

College services

The college services will continue to operate as follows:

Library service - the library service will continue online, books are also available to order. Please contact the library regarding individual queries: library@hull-college.ac.uk

ELearning - the E-learning team will offer CANVAS support, please contact them with any queries by emailing: ELearning@hull-college.ac.uk

IT Services - the IT Services team are available with online support throughout the day. Please email: IThelpdesk@hull-college.ac.uk for support.

Financial support - for those students that are eligible for a college bursary or free school meal, this will be paid directly into your bank account (terms and conditions of the bursary still apply).

If you have an issues with access to learning materials, please speak to your teacher.

Attendance

It is essential that you attend your lessons remotely as per your existing timetable. Registers will be completed by your teachers and you should continue to report any absences to the attendance team. If you do not follow the correct process this will affect your bursary payments.

Attendance and engagement in timetabled lessons and in independent study remains key to your success. Continue to prioritise your education and your future.

It is important you regularly check your emails, college social media and the website for updates.

If you have any queries regarding your studies please contact your teacher. Alternatively, you can contact the student services team on 01482 329943.

Finally, the team at college – teachers, support staff and leaders continue to be proud of the work you are doing towards your studies and future. We are right behind you, supporting you along the way!

Take good care and remember to stay at home and stay safe.

Kindest regards

Liz Winn
