Former student Lisa Hunter, 43, studied Access to Higher Education for Health Professions and since completing her studies with Goole College, has progressed to study at the University of Leeds.

Lisa, who aims to become a midwife, chose Goole College because of the location as it provided easy access and a preferred alternative than travelling to another town to study, as well as the great opportunity to progress offered by the course.

In 2017, Lisa’s hard work also paid off when Goole College awarded her with the “Student of the Year” award in the 19+ category.

Lisa said, “I wanted to study a course that would help me progress to University but I wasn’t happy about having to make a lengthy commute to study, so when I discovered that Goole College offered this course locally, it made perfect sense.”

“The tutors were brilliant and I felt that they really helped me all the way through my course.”

“As well as study skills, the course showed me what universities look for and what to expect, and as this was my end goal, this knowledge was invaluable.”

“I am so proud of what I have achieved during my time at Goole College, in particular my student award and a total of 45 distinctions.”

“I would definitely recommend Goole College to anyone, and if I was asked sum it up in just three words they would be, welcoming, supportive and nurturing!”

Well done Lisa, we wish you the very best for the future and we look forward to seeing the many things you will go on to achieve.
