Local joiner, Tony Matthewson, recently completed a Carpentry and Joinery course at Goole College in order to expand his company and his team.

With the help of Goole College, Tony Matthewson, completed his three year Carpentry and Joinery course and soon after was offered a contract to develop the houses and buildings down Aire Street in Goole.

While setting up his own company, Matthewsons Joinery, Tony studied at Goole College for two days a week, then worked on-site for various clients the other three days. Through studying at the college, Tony was able to further develop his skill set and land larger contracts through local links.

Despite being anxious about returning to college, the tutors were incredibly supportive and eased Tony back into an educational setting after a substantial break, where he mastered both the theory and practical elements of the course.

Rick Gilroy, Carpentry and Joinery tutor, taught Tony and was thrilled to learn he had since taken on one of his learners, Anthony Shooter. By learning local, Tony was able to build relationships with employers and expand his team with people he knew and trusted.
