On the City & Guilds Level 1 Construction Skills Study Programme you will learn the basic skills that you require on your journey to becoming a fully qualified construction industry professional, with a focus on carpentry and joinery.

On this study programme you will learn carpentry & joinery skills, you will also learn about Health & Safety legislation and have an introduction to the construction industry. You will also have the opportunity for introductory taster sessions in other trades bricklaying and painting and decorating.

You will also gain hands-on work experience, set in real life situations such as renovation and/or new build projects which will develop your employability skills and analytical thinking skills.

An integral part of your Study Programme is English and maths which will be wrapped around your Study Programme. On successful completion of this course you can potentially progress onto a Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship or a full time Level 2 Study Programme within your trade area.

4 x GCSEs at grade 2(E) or above, including English
In addition: Good hand eye coordination skills and a keen interest in the construction trades


You will be required to wear PPE (safety boots, overalls and safety glasses) as well as departmental uniform.
